Loliondo is known for its Maasai culture, spectacular natural beauty and great variety of animals. The large, private concession areas are shared with small settlements of the nomadic Maasai tribe and offer some breathtaking landscapes: the towering Gol Mountains, the deep Sanjan, Olkarien Gorges and the active Ol Donyno Lengai volcano.

Unlike within the Serengeti, this area offers the extra freedom of night drives and walking safaris in addition to normal day game drives.

The camp fits beautifully within the landscape. The central area is one large mess tent which is completely open sided to the surrounding bush. At one end is the main dining area whilst at the other end some comfortable leather chairs, tables and bookshelves make up a lounge. In front and below the mess tent is a camp fire area which is a really enjoyable place to sit and chat before and after dinner with the guides and other guests.

The six bedroom tents are spacious and very comfortable with large king-size or twin beds and convenient bathrooms. The bathrooms are extremely impressive for a mobile camp, with shower, wash basin and an environmentally friendly toilet.  Each tent has its own private veranda with directors' chairs so you can take in the panoramic views.

The staff and guides are very knowledgable of the area and create a really enjoyable atmosphere within camp. The food and service throughout is of a very high quality in the same vein as it's sister camp Olakira in the Serengeti.

This is a wonderfully remote area and a particularly good option when the camp is located in the southern Piaya area between December and March.
