Stanley's Camp is built around an imposing sausage tree in a private concession on the southern tip of Chief’s Island. The area around the camp changes with the seasons - from lush green when the rain flows down from the Angolan highlands to dry savannah when the Kalahari Desert takes hold.

This classic tented camp offers eight luxury safari tents on raised wooden decking. The tents are furnished with African antiques, carved wooden beds, woven reed mats, high quality bed linen and traditional ceiling fans. Large wooden decks provide areas where you can relax and enjoy the surrounding environment.

The main building is also raised on decking with a large sitting and dining area that offers expansive views over the surrounding floodplains. From the swimming pool deck it is possible to watch giraffe and the other plains game that march across the savannah.

Actitives from the camp include day and night game drives, walking safaris, mokoro and motorised boat excursions (June to September).

An additional activity at Baines' camp is the opportunity to go walking in the bush with three semi-habituated elephants. Jabu, Thembi and Morula are elephants that were orphaned nearby and adopted. The elephants ‘take’ guests on long walks, foraging in the area in absolute safety. This activity includes a leisurely paced walk, observing and interacting with the elephants, and a picnic lunch in their company.
