Kasaka River Lodge is situated high on the banks of the Zambezi River in a beautiful natural bush environment.
The Lodge has a "tame side" with beautiful manicured gardens and colourful indigenous plants and a 'wild side' for the more adventurous, which is connected to the main lodge by overhead walkways to allow for the passage of wildlife within the camp.
The eight "chalets" are luxury tents and tastefully decorated with an authentic African flavour. Each has an elegantly furnished en-suite bathroom with flush toilets and powerful heated showers. The honeymoon suite which is the last chalet on the river's edge to the west of the 'wild' side section of the lodge is beautifully set up with a perfect view down the river.
There are also two "family" style suites which are the "Hippo Pod" and "Acacia" Suite with two rooms in each and privacy as required. Kasaka has an excellent set up for families including a "Bush Kids Programme".
Kasaka's bar and deck area are nestled amongst huge tamarind trees and is the perfect location for watching the world go by on the river. The leather lounge chairs and sofas are a perfect spot to read or snooze after the day's activities. There is also a pleasant library deck area which holds books of interest related to Africa.
The thatched dining area also overlooks the river whilst the lodge also arranges dinner on the deck area, around the pool and gardens or even out in the bush under the stars.
The swimming pool is situated on the 'tame side' with a panoramic view of the river and valley. Sunloungers, large sunshades and two hammocks make this an easy place to kick back and relax during the quieter part of the day.
We visited Kasaka River Lodge in October 2009 and it surpassed our expectations. The lodge is comfortable, relaxed and friendly with excellent hosting and guiding. Great value for money.
