Sausage Tree Camp has a lovely location overlooking an expanse of narrow channels and low set reed islands teeming with game, with the magnificent Zambezi escarpment as the backdrop.

The accommodation consists of unique Bedouin-style white canvas tents furnished in luxurious fabrics and Zambian Teak. The tents are very spacious and designed using local materials and furniture which works perfectly with the white linens and flowing mosquito nets. Each room has its own open air bathrooms and sliding teak doors opening onto an expansive deck with views of the Zambezi river.

The two enormous 'honeymoon suites' each boast indoor and outdoor bathrooms, dining area, bar and a king size bed overlooking a private pool set into the expansive teak deck.

'Kigelia House' (new for 2009) is the perfect choice for small groups or families, with two en-suite bedrooms separated by an open plan living area leading onto the private deck and pool.

The lounge and dining area is a large Bedouin-style tent with open sides to maximise the superb views from the riverfront location. Within the tent are comfortable sofas, a small library, African artwork, a large dining table and very cool bar area. From the tent extends the main decking area right to the edge of the river with comfortable cane furniture and a fire pit area perfect for pre and post dinner drinks.

Sausage Tree Camp offers a superb range of safari activities including day and night game drives, walks, canoe trips, boat cruises and fishing. The guiding is excellent and guests decide exactly what activity they would like to take and when. Elephant, hippo and buffalo are seen in camp daily whilst you have a very high chance of seeing lion, leopard, wild dogs, hyena, waterbuck, zebra, impala, bushbuck and kudu.

We visited Sausage Tree in October 2009 and had a wonderful stay. Everything within the camp was exemplary whilst a particular highlight was a superb canoeing trip on “The Chifungulu Channel" followed by lunch on one of the sand banks within the river.
