Tena Tena Camp overlooks the Luangwa River at the southern end of the Nsefu sector of South Luangwa National Park.

Tena Tena Camp is a small and remote camp that enjoys a stunning location on a sweeping bend of the Luangwa River. Away from the river, on the other side of
the camp, is a waterhole which is also highly productive for game viewing.

The main area of the camp is a large canvas marque placed between two mahogany trees with thatched walls that opens up to the riverbank. The views from the sitting area down the Luangwa River are stunning with the distant hills in the background. The style and decor is quite simple but with some lovely design touches and attractive features – a great place to just kick back, relax and enjoy your siesta.

The dining area on a platform at the other end of the camp offers lovely views of both the river and the waterhole. Again the style and approach appears to all be very simple but you have everything that you would ever need without any unnecessary clutter. Meals are often set up on the riverbank under the stars whilst there is also a campfire area perfect for pre & post dinner drinks and chatter.

The accommodation is made up of five large canopy and thatched structures which are pleasantly hidden within the bush. Each tent has a veranda, dressing room and large open bathroom. The local fabrics within the rooms offer an authentic “safari” style whilst the layout of the beds, tables, chairs, rugs and fittings would meet the demands of any feng shui expert.

Tena Tena Camp offers day and night game drives as well a walking safaris with very experience and sociable guiding. Each day tends to work around a morning and afternoon activity which last around 4 hours with time in the middle of the day to relax and enjoy the camp environment.

Owned and operated by Robin Pope Safaris the camp combines well with its sister-camps, Nkwali Camp and Nsefu Camp, or as base before or after an extended walking safari using mobile camps.

We visited Tena Tena Camp in October 2009 and it is a beautiful set up camp. A perfect combination of traditional safari feel with large and very comfrotable room tents. The camp has an excellent reputation which it thoroughly deserves.
