What you will find at Benguerra Lodge is a dazzling white sand beach and an ocean that is warm, clear, clean and beautifully turquoise.

The Lodge merges naturally into the surrounding forest, is small and intimate and offers luxurious hospitality and personalised service.  There is a rich East African/Arabic feel which comes through in both the décor and the enticing food.

Within the main area of the Lodge is a reception and curio shop alongside a stylish lounge and dining room with large, sunny decks dedicated to comfort. There is a small pool next to the main lounge which leads down to a very cool beach bar made from a restored Dhow boat.

There are three different kinds of accommodation at Benguerra – Casitas, Cabannas and the Villa - each with their unique characteristics and style.

There are 10 Casitas which are large open-plan thatched chalets with a private decked area and a plunge pool, which lead directly down to the beach. The en suite bathroom has a beautiful copper bathtub as well as an outdoor shower with mosaic design.

The 2 Cabannas are very similar in style to the Casitas but smaller and have no bathtub. The Villa is a two-bedroom chalet with a lounge and dining area which is serviced by your own personal chef.

Some of the best scuba diving and snorkelling in the world is available off Benguerra’s shores with the surrounding coral reefs rich in sea life.  The Archipelago is one of the last remaining habitats of the endangered Dugong, - a pale, voluptuous sea mammal fabled to have made bygone mariners believe in mermaids.

Visitors fly into the international airport at Vilanculos, and then on to the island.  A representative from Benguerra meets guests at the airport and escorts them to the helicopter for the Island Transfer.  The lodge will organise boat transfers only if the helicopter transfer is not available.
