Bazaruto is the largest of the Archipelago islands and features white sands, large sand dunes and freshwater lakes surrounded by the translucent blue Indian Ocean.

A mainstream resort style hotel with 44 rooms or villas and substantial facilities including a choice of restaurants, bars, swimming pools, a specialist dive pool, and an activity centre.

The public areas and rooms have all been constructed using natural materials like reed, soft-fringed thatch and wood in order to try and blend harmoniously with the natural surroundings. Each chalet and villa offers air-conditioning, mosquito screens, en suite bathrooms, mini-bars, 24-hour power, satellite TV and telephone access.

The resort activity centre is the base for a host of island-based activities, such as diving, fishing, snorkelling and water-skiing.  A state-of-the-art dive-training pool is available for guests wanting to hone their diving skills or take up one of several dive courses on offer.

To get to Indigo Bay you fly into Vilanculos and clear customs and immigration before boarding the short 15 minutes hop-over flight.

This is a nice enough hotel but just a little bit too resorty for us particularly when considering the extra effort it takes to get there.
