Ibo Island Lodge is located on the prime waterfront site of the island, where romantic dhows sail out to sea on each high tide.
The lodge encompasses two magnificent mansions each over one hundred years old with walls over a meter thick and lofty high ceilings. Some rooms are sea facing, and some are garden facing whilst all have been individually designed to incorporate the original architecture of the buildings.
All nine bedrooms feature a kingsize four-poster (or twin) bed with crisp cotton linen and Indian silk throws. Wide verandas are a traditional feature of all Ibo mansions and are furnished with comfortable plantation-style chairs with soft cushions. All rooms are air-conditioned and have ceiling fans.
The lodge has two swimming pools set in tropical gardens, an air-conditioned lounge and private dining room, as well as a roof terrace restaurant with an open-air lounge area for after dinner drinks under the stars.
There are some great activities from Ibo Island Lodge including historical and culture tours, various island excursions, snorkelling, sea kayaking, dhow sailing, birding and mangrove forest nature walks.
To get here guests fly to Pemba airport (Cabo Delgado) and then transfer by light aircraft to Ibo Island. This breathtakingly beautiful flight is a real highlight as you fly over some of the stunning coastline and islands of the Quirimbas Archipelago.
