Hot Air Ballooning

Balloon safaris are gaining in popularity.  Floating gently over far reaching plains of the Masai Mara or Serengeti or the vast deserts of Namibia offer a magical experience.  Up high you really get a feel of what Africa is all about and why visiting this continent can be so addictive.

Setting off at daybreak, before thermals build and the animals become more self conscious, allows you to get a birds eye view of the start the day, watching animals wake up and witnessing their behaviour without the interruption of a land rover engine.  You will return with a real buzz when you come back to earth and tuck into your bush breakfast. 

Balloon safaris are a privilege and carry an expensive price-tag. Operators often require sharing the balloon with others which, perhaps removes some of the intimacy.
