Garonga Safari Camp is located in Makalali Conservancy, right by a river, on the west side of the Kruger National Park.

Garonga Safari Camp reflects the surroundings of the bush’s textured earthy colours and clean lines have been incorporated with fine linen to ensure pure comfort, a tempting place to lie and meditate for hours.

The luxury tents are situated overlooking a dry riverbed – each with a wooden deck complete with hammock that commands spectacular views. The rooms are light, airy and spacious with large, draped beds. In addition to the indoor shower, there is an outdoor shower, providing the perfect link between the luxury of the suite and the allure of Mother Nature.

The food at Garonga Safari Camp is a fusion of the resident chef’s exceptional culinary skills and there is a varied selection of excellent South African wines.

Guest can take safaris in the morning and again in the afternoon.  Open air Landrovers capable of taking 8 guests, but normally 6.  Game to see include “The Big 4” (no free roaming Buffalo at present). In addition there are cheetah, hippo and croc, spotted hyaena’s, excellent plains game and an abundance of it.

Garonga Safari Camp is make up of 6 Luxury Tents (Enâ?Suite) – indoor and outdoor showers. Tents accommodate a maximum of 2 x children with 2 x adults in one room, if need be. Ceiling fans are in the rooms. Each tent looks down onto a dry riverbed. Also the tents have their own platform decks with hammocks. Generally 12 guests can be accommodated.

Facilities at the camp includ open air bush bath, Picnics (summer only), sleep out experience, massage, swimming pool, large open lounge with “help yourself” bar, boma and a gift shop.

Meals: Guests have their own private table for breakfast and lunch. The camp varies the location and theme for dinner by providing either a communal round table in the main lounge, or a boma dinner, or private tables which all have their own unique position. A delicious cake is served at tea time, just before the afternoon game activity. In winter time there is a huge fireplace where guests can gather round before dinner. Breakfasts may also be taken out in the bush.

This is a lovely little camp with very high standards, excellent guiding and consistently excellent feedback.  We would recommend this as a great option for those seeking something a little safer in the main park.
