Kinondo Kwetu is a haven for people seeking freedom and peace, away from the typical tourist beach. White sand, blue sea and as much or as little to do as you please.

Kinondo Kwetu is a small, all-inclusive luxury resort owned and operated by a Swedish family. But beyond the accommodations, food, and amenities you would expect, it also offers another kind of luxury: peace and quiet, of freedom and rest. No pumping music at the pools. No noise from crowds at the bar. No jostling for space on the beach. No roaming trinket sellers. Kinondo Kwetu is a home, not an entertainment centre. We think you will love it as much as we do.

Kinondo Kwetu is situated on the south coast of Kenya, 1 ½ hours ride south from Mombasa, on the beach of the Indian Ocean. With room for no more than 38 guests, you will always find your own private spot at Kinondo Kwetu, which makes it a very special hideaway for honeymooners. It is also the perfect place to gather family or friends for a private celebration or wedding.

Every room and cottage has its own personalized character, as it is furnished and decorated with Swahili culture handicraft and antiquities. Rooms are equipped with king size beds, fans and mosquito nets.

There are plenty of quiet, beautiful spots where you can retire to spend time with yourself or in company, in the library or in one of the living rooms. Or outside, in one of the water towers, where you can watch the sun set over the mountains, on a cliff by the sea or in any of the secluded spots you find in the area.

Although Kinondo Kwetu is the ideal place for simply doing nothing at all, it offers exciting possibilities for all adventurers big and small. Some activities are better in some seasons, depending on winds and tides.

The reefs along Galu Beach boast a generous variety of marine life. One can see a range of exotic species – from angel fish and parrot fish to dolphins, turtles, and even whale sharks. (Whale shark season is from Oct to March) Not only this but deep sea fishing is also available with catches such as Tuna, Wahoo, Barracuda and Marlin. The bird life around Kinondo Kwetu is exceptionally rich – described as bird lovers’ paradise.

This is our favourite place to stay on the Kenya coast.  Its Swahili laid back cool at its best but with great attention to detail.  The facilities are great but not in your face – there’s something for everyone here – especially if you want to get away from it all.  The biggest drawback is the cost but you can get a lot out of a stay here.
