Sasaab is a sensational and stylish lodge set in a wild landscape, amongst the culturally proud and fascinating Samburu tribe. It forms part of the Westgate Community Conservancy just outside the Samburu National Reserve.

It offers an experience of rare and endangered wildlife, enhanced by scenic views of the Ewaso Nyiro river, Kenya’s third largest water course. Set on half a mile of hillside, the lodge provides privacy and harmony with the environment and a taste of true African safari.

The nine distinctive rooms have Egyptian cotton sheets on our four poster beds and invigorating showers in the spacious bathrooms. Each room is over one hundred square meters in size and extends out to the verandah and private plunge pool with views overlooking the river and wildlife below.

Pass the time lazing on cushions in our ‘souk’ style mess whilst looking out over the rugged Northern Frontier district, or simply relax with a good book by the main pool and watch the elephants amble in the river below.

With meals made from the freshest ingredients from their own vegetable garden, the food here is great. The chefs will prepare a delicious breakfast or lunch on the deck. Nothing can compare to the simple comfort of sitting out under the stars as you enjoy your evening meal while you take in the sounds and scent of the wild.

Sasaab is situated in Westgate Community Conservancy of Ngutuk Ongiron Group Ranch (NOGR), in the Northern Frontier District of Kenya. The conservancy was established in 2004, it borders Samburu National Reserve to its south east, Kalama Community Wildlife Conservancy to its east and Namunyak Wildlife Conservation Trust to the north.  The Westgate Community Conservancy (a member of the Northern Rangeland Trust) forms a crucial habitat for the endangered Grevy’s Zebra.
