Mahale Mountains

Scroll Down

Mahale Mountains National Park is one of the most beautiful locations anywhere in Africa.

Stretching along the lakeshore of the crystal clear waters of Lake Tanganyika, the deserted sandy beaches and stunning backdrop of forested mountains makes this is a totally entoxicating place to visit.

Apart from it’s stunning beauty this area is also home to an estimated population of some 700 chimpanzees which have been studied and habituated of the last 40 years.

The habituated chimp communities can be tracked and observed on a daily basis from the few camps offering one of the most rewarding wildlife interactions you can ever hope to experience.

Viewing the chimps can take between 30 mins to 8 hours depending on their location, whilst the success rate is high particularly over a 3 or 4 night stay.

The outstanding lodge and one of the very best in Africa is without doubt Greystoke Mahale Camp.
