For latest entry requirements, please see our travel blog Africa Travel Protocols
Visa requirements differ by country. We have highlighted on the home pages of each country the specific requirement. We strongly recommend you ensure you have the address visa requirement before travel.
All Africa countries will require your passport to be valid at least 6 months before expiry.
We recommend you consult your local medical practitioner with regard to inoculations and malaria prophylaxis. Whilst we do have local knowledge, it is against protocol for us to advise in this area.
We are happy to help and advise with your international flights, although not necessarily book them. Our preferred partners have expert knowledge in the Africa market as well as very competitive pricing. Please contact us for details.
For travel from the UK to east Africa, our preferred airlines are British Airways and Kenya Airways since internal flight infrastructure is usually set up to work with their timetable.
Please let us know your international flight details as soon as possible including full passenger names. It is important you check the airline’s terms and conditions – these often change for travel to Africa.
We will book domestic flights as part of your trip as required. Please note, on occasion, flights to the more remote regions will be in smaller planes which will have luggage limitations. Please check before departure.
Provided with your confirmation details will be all emergency contact numbers of lodges, domestic airlines and our ground operators (as applicable). Whilst we do our best to be available 24/7, we recommend you contact those more local to you in the event of an emergency.
We do not allow travel with Safari & Beach without adequate travel insurance. Please consult us for advice in this area. We will happily provide agents who can help, if required.
It is important you check with the UK Foreign and Commonweath Office any information relating to your proposed destination before you travel (www.fco.gov.uk/travel). We are kept up to date with any travel advisories but we recommend you double check to ensure your trip is as trouble-free as possible.
Tipping locally for good performance is usually expected and is not included in the price of your trip. We recommend you consult your lodge manager for advice on staff tipping. Safari guides average about US$20 per day. We are happy to discuss appropriate tipping with you prior to travel.
We always recommend to pack as little as possible. Heavy luggage can be cumbersome and add stress to your stress free holiday. Most domestic airlines have a maximum weight policy of 15 kg per person – please check. For safari we recommend clothing to be toned down/neutral colours and light weight but multi layers according to time of year. Footwear should be sturdy and made of natural or breathable fibres. Outer layers for cooler evenings may be required. We recommend a daypack for water and photographic equipment. Sun hats and UV protect sunglasses are advisable according to personal preference. We recommend high factor sun screen. Lodges often spray insect repellent but you may like to bring some personal supplies.
